The Swim Ireland Connacht 2018 Short Course Championships took place on 3rd and 4th November in Leisureland, Galway, and it proved to be another excellent meet for the travelling County Sligo Swimming Club swimmers. Along with the Connacht Long Course Championships, the Short Course Championships are the highlight of the Connacht Calendar, and this year they attracted 275 swimmers from 15 Connacht clubs competing for a range of junior and open titles in 40 events. With 22 swimmers representing Sligo S.C., the swimmers did not disappoint, achieving 41 podium places and multiple personal best times. Have a look at the full Meet Report, Media Coverage and Photo Gallery from the event.

Congratulations to our new club captains - Carrie McDaid and Paddy McPartlan !
Carrie McDaid (16) has been a member of CSSC since she was 9 years old and loves swimming - both pool and open water. Carrie was previously a member of the Swim Ireland National Squad for two years and is currently on the Connacht Squad. She has won multiple medals at National and Regional level, as well as at the Fisec-Ficep Games in Belgium in the summer. She is a qualified lifeguard, and will be completing a Level 1 coaching course this December. Over the coming year, Carrie hopes to fulfil her duties as girl club captain by helping out in any way she can with the club and being there for the CSSC swimmers, from the Nippers all the way up to Group 4. Feel free to approach Carrie with any questions or advice and she’ll try her very best to help you out!
Paddy McPartlan (16) has been a part of the swimming club for the past 5 years. He participates in both pool and open water swimming, and has competed in both regional and national competitions in both. He will go to the National Irish short course championship this December and will also complete his level 1 coaching course. He has grown to love swimming over the years, and is very keen to help the club in any way he can. Paddy wants both the younger swimmers and parents to be able to approach him with any questions and concerns.
