Swim Fit

Swim Fit has been developed by our coaching team for young people who want to swim for fitness - but who for various reasons cannot commit to a competitive training schedule or do not want to compete in events.

The Swim Fit program is a unique opportunity to support health, fitness and wellness development.  Swimming for fitness is complementary training for many other sports such as: GAA, Soccer, Rugby, Pentathlon, Triathlon, Hockey, Athletics, Dancing and so on.

To join Swim Fit, swimmers must be at least 13 years old.

They train three hours per week (CSSC Training Schedule 2019-2020):

  • 2 water training sessions (Thursday from 6pm to 7pm, and Sunday from 8am to 9am); and
  • 1 land training session where athletes are grouped by age (14 years and older Wednesday 7am to 8am; and 13 years on Friday from 5pm to 6pm).

Swimmers should bring a mesh bag, a pair of swimming fins, pull buoy, snorkle, hand paddle and a water bottle to every session.

As per club registration requirements, all Swim Fit swimmers must affiliate to Swim Ireland as a competitive swimmer - this allows swimmers to take part at special events if they wish to do so.
